A migrating flamingo, one of two birds found infected with bird flu in Kuwait, had the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus that has devastated poultry stocks and killed more than 60 people in Asia, an agricultural official said yesterday.
Analysis and tests conducted on birds in the UAE are in line with international standards, and all precautions prescribed by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) to confront any outbreak of bird flu are being observed, said a Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries official.
