Rice prices began to rise again this week after a relative stability that lasted two weeks. Official statistics issued by the Consumer Protection Department, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, showed that rice prices surged by 10 per cent earlier this week.  A top brand 40 kg bag sought RO 28.350 as compared to RO 25.7, according to the Consumer Department's survey of July 12.

The Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources said the authority was currently in the process of implementing effective changes. The General Manager of PAAAFR Jassim Al-Bader said the authority will incorporate several plans and programs for developing the agricultural sector through setting aside special cadres for national employment.
